It’s done! I could probably have spent another couple of hours just rendering detail but my back is starting to hurt… :D
The most interesting part was to paint the tree tops. I definitely feel like I learned something about how the lights and shadows play off each other there, and how to paint from the back and up - first the sky colour, then a desaturated shade behind the foliage, dark green, and then light greens on top. The sky peaking out from between the branches really seals the deal.
Wonderful painting to study! I probably spent about 8 hours total on this. Gawd.
